Commitment to QualityThe Pediatric Physicians’ Organization at Children’s (PPOC), a partner and affiliate of world-renowned Boston Children’s Hospital, is a national leader in the delivery of quality pediatric health care.

Our network of primary care physicians and physician specialists provides our patients and their families with the most advanced and highest quality health care available.  PPOC is committed to innovation, and constantly researches ways to improve quality of care.

In diagnosing and treating patients, a PPOC practice operates as a “medical home” — a model of care that has gained favor in health care circles for boosting quality and efficiency.

Within the medical home model, doctors and other medical specialists closely and frequently communicate; employ advanced information technology which helps eliminate duplication in testing and unnecessary procedures; encourage and keep open lines of communication with the patient and the patient’s family; and consistently evaluate and seek to improve the quality of care.

In the most recent report issued by Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) on how physician groups across the state performed on a variety of clinical quality measures, our practices exceeded the statewide average on eight out of 10 of the pediatric quality measures, and we surpassed the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) national 90th percentile on eight out of 10 of the measures.

Our member practices have also excelled in meeting the needs of patients and families, according to MHQP, scoring above the statewide average on six out of nine patient experience measures. In all, 97 percent of the more than 3,700 PPOC parents who were surveyed by MHQP said they would recommend their child’s physician to family and friends – with nearly 60 percent rating their child’s pediatrician a perfect 10 (“best doctor possible”).

The PPOC also counts as a member the only pediatric group in Massachusetts — Benjamin, Spingarn, Rottenberg in Newton — to receive top marks across all five patient experience areas in the recent Consumer Reports Health, a joint project with MHQP.

The PPOC has been named to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s Physician Group Honor Roll for consistently exceeding the national 90th percentile performance on five key quality measures.
