The PPOC is one of the largest pediatric primary care physician organizations in the country, with more than 300 pediatric primary care physicians, 100 nurse practitioners and physician assistants working in community-based practices in 96 locations throughout Massachusetts. As a community of pediatricians, we recognize the dramatic changes taking place in our health care system. We are taking bold action to develop new models and systems of care that will improve quality and reduce costs.
Our organization benefits greatly from its relationship with Boston Children’s Hospital, a world leading pediatric medical and research center. Through our participation in the Children’s Hospital Integrated Care Organization (CHICO), we work closely with the hospital’s leadership and its pediatric subspecialists to better integrate primary, specialty, and hospital care and ensure that care is organized around the needs of children and families.
The PPOC is well positioned for the future. We have implemented a common electronic health records system, adopted the family-centered medical home to improve coordination of care, created and instituted a network-wide quality improvement program, and incorporated critical research into our operations.
We established “Learning Communities,” an innovative program of professional development and education that assures that all PPOC member physicians are trained on the newest and most effective developments in pediatric medicine.
In every PPOC practice, we deliver — and will continue to deliver — the highest quality and most cost-effective care possible.
