CMA/MA – Full-time – WOBURN  

This team member will provide quality support to patients by assisting assigned provider(s) with the daily tasks associated with outpatient office visits: pre-visit prep, exam room readiness, and vitals/medical history updates prior to the provider exam. They will also:

  • Prepare and administer vaccinations.  
  • Record data collected during visit in Epic, as well as post-visit treatment & test results.
  • Coordinate post-appt tasks such as scheduling specialist appointments, follow-up on tests & x-rays, as needed.

Brookline Pediatrics Seeks Behavioral Health Clinician

Brookline Pediatrics is an experienced, dedicated, family-focused practice, affiliated with the Pediatric Physicians’ Organization at Boston Children’s Hospital. We are seeking candidates for an exciting opportunity in pediatric behavioral health integration. The successful candidate will join our clinical staff to deliver fully integrated behavioral health services to our patients.

This is a primarily therapy-based role, mostly focusing on short-term interventions but with some opportunity for longer term treatment. As a member of our team, the behavioral health provider will also provide consultative support to medical clinicians and support the medical home team in making referrals to community-based providers and services. This is a full-time position with some flexibility in terms of specific hours. We are currently operating our Behavioral Health Service on a telehealth-only basis and will be gradually opening our in-person services over the coming months as clinically indicated and appropriate. We anticipate that we will continue to provide the option for telehealth for appropriate patients going forward.

Working within our family-centered medical home, the behavioral health provider will:

  • Provide comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of behavioral health concerns

  • Assist in identifying patients at risk of developing health problems, and provide preventive interventions to address the needs of these populations
  • Assist the primary care team in developing care management workflows, such as the use of guidelines and screening measures, population health management, care coordination, and patient education, to improve self-management of chronic conditions
  • Help evolve the practices integration efforts, by identifying problems and making recommendations for improvement

A Doctoral or Master’s Degree in a mental health field, from an accredited graduate program, and a license for independent practice in Massachusetts (Licensed Psychologist, LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) is required. 3 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families is required. Experience in pediatric primary care or other pediatric medical settings is preferred. Experience with behavioral interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and brief, solution-focused treatment is required. A prospective candidate will be able to provide and/or coordinate the delivery of various patient services under the direction of the Practice Manager.

Patient services are non-clinical in nature and include (but are not limited to):

  1. Perform day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including but not limited to scheduling, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones and data entry.
  2. Provide information to patients and families concerning office policy and procedures.
  3. Welcome and greet patients/parents/visitors to the practice in a manner that is helpful and friendly.

  7. Maintain patient waiting areas, office files, and front-desk areas in a manner that is organized and neat.
  8. Verify method of payment for service (Medicare, private insurance, private payee, MassHealth, etc.) and collects data and/or payment as appropriate.
  9. Exercise problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints; refer patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed.
  10. Perform other duties as may be required.

  • A strong candidate must possess:  Strong interpersonal and communication skills and have graduated with a High School diploma - or equivalent - to qualify.
  • A strong candidate must have:  A minimum of 6month’s experience in healthcare administration within a comparable healthcare setting.

General Description: We seek a Behavioral Health Clinician who will work on a multidisciplinary team in a pediatric primary care setting. S/he will provide behavioral health services to patients and families, within the practice’s model of the medical home. The clinician will also provide medical staff in the practice with consultative support, help coordination behavioral health referrals and services outside the practice. Summary of Duties:

  • Provide age – appropriate care for a wide patient panel, ranging from newborns to young adults
  • Build professional clinical relationships with patients and families who primary care providers refer them for behavioral health services
  • Provide evidence – based, short – term interventions, to patients and families with identified clinical needs in accordance with established professional standards and treatment models
  • Evaluate children with positive behavioral health screens to determine need to further diagnostic assessment and need for behavioral services
  • Provide consultative support to the practice’s providers
  • Provide documentation as required for approval of behavioral health services by health insurer
  • Assist with administrative tasks and oversight of the department (including ensuring compliance with insurance requirements for session notes, treatment plans, supervision, treatment authorizations, RBT requirements, etc.)
  • Engages in various educational and professional development trainings to enhance their ability to provide effective, efficient and quality care

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Has a Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA – accredited program or a Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE – accredited program
  • Is currently licensed in Massachusetts at the independent practice level
  • Has experience with and comfortable working on a team
  • Clinical experience working with children and families, with direct experience in pediatric primary care
  • Is passionate about working directly with pediatric patients and their families
  • Has an understanding of “behavioral health integration in primary care” and the “medical home”
  • Has experience with EHR (electronic health records) and an overall comfortability with computers and health – related software
